On Sunday the 21st, Some Scouts attended the CT Yankee Extravaganza. These scouts include Adam, Phil, Eric, Ben, Ben, Gabe, Aaron, Tyler, Alex, and Gerry and Anthony (only came for the last bit). That was a load of fun. Mostly, Phil, Adam, Ben S., Eric, and Aaron whooped troop 608 butt in ultamate frizbee. Also, in Tug of War. There were also many other cool attractions, like the 18-wheeler, Reptile wagon, pellit guns, paintball guns, rifels, and a ton of other stuff. After the Extravaganza, Adam and Phil represented our troop at Camp Whiting with the cubs.

Philmont Hike 5/20

The crew that will be going to Philmont in July-August took there 3 crew hike. Even though we did not have a full crew we still had a lot of fun. We met at the church and started hiking through Alice Newton Street Park. We hiked all the way through the park on the Blue Trail and then hiked up Indian Hill Rd. From there we got onto the Woodbridge Land Trust property to Peck Hill Rd. We then crossed over that road and got onto the Water Company Property thanks to Mr. Marien. We had a great lunch by Beaver Creek and when we were all done we had a refreshing soda and some snacks back at Mr. Mariens house. We hiked about 9-12 miles. It was great. We had full packs on to make it even more fun.

West Point Jamboree

We got invited to the Scoutmasters Invitational Jamboree at West Point. We left Friday night from the church parking lot. We got there around 9:30 after getting lost, and we backpacked into a tent city where they were cooking Filet Mignon. We also watched Master and Commander while we waited in line to get in. Saturday came as fast at the speed of sound. We had GREAT powdered eggs and Cliff Bars. It was mandatory that we do PT so we did, with another troop because we did not have our cadet yet. We got a wonderful cadet named Cadet Chamberlain. There was an array of activities that we could do. We did an obstacle course which the Aaron, Craig, Anthony, and Greg whipped behind in. Then we walked about a half of a mile and did a camouflage activity and got the maximum points. We then went to the trading post where our scoutmaster Mr. Case got the Line Standing merit badge for standing in the 1 mile long line for approx. 2 hours. After lunch we went to the grenade toss where Gerry got a 10 pointer and Anthony took off two cadets heads. Also every other scout got a chance to throw and did a good job. While the younger scouts did a leadership activity the older scouts went to a fire building competition. We were versing the Girl Scouts. We had 3 min to find our materials and only had one match to light the fire. We had to burn through a rope 2 ft. high. We SADLY lost to them because we figured out seven minutes into it that maybe, just maybe we should move the fire under the rope we were trying to burn through. We then saw some paratroopers jump out of a helicopter 500 ft. in the air and we raced in a canoe race. Dinner was great and then we went to a campfire. West Point called it a campfire but is was 50 pallets stacked in a pile and doused with kerosene which our troop called a "Mansion on Fire". Flames were 50 ft in the air and the grass caught on fire and the wind picked up and blew the flames into the crowd opposite us. We also lost Ted Burt that night at the bon fire. Sunday we woke up and cleaned up, lost Ted Burt again, and marched in a parade. We arrived back at the church at 1:00.
